AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" It's been quite a week for Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson.
On Saturday, he became the SEC's all-time leading scorer. Two days later, he was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week. And the accolades continued Tuesday when the Lou Groza Award recognized the senior kicker as one of their three "Stars of the Week."
Carlson is coming off a week where he made field goals from 49, 35 and 25 yards, and was a perfect 5 of 5 on extra points to extend his career-long streak to 167. His 14 points in Saturday's 44-23 win over Ole Miss gave him 413 career points, pushing him ahead of Blair Walsh at the top of the SEC's all-time scoring list.
This is the second time in three weeks Carlson has been recognized by the Lou Groza Award. He was also selected as one of the "Stars of the Week" two weeks ago when he made all three of his field-goal attempts at Missouri, including two from 50 yards or more. For the season, he's now 11 of 15 on field goals, and his 59 points place him fifth among FBS kickers.
Carlson has been a finalist for the Lou Groza Award each of the last two seasons.
