Galka And Ross Win Doubles Title At Bulldog Invitational

Jan Galka and Jackson Ross won the Magill Draw in doubles at this weekend's Bulldog Invitational in Athens, Ga.
 
Galka and Ross, playing together as a doubles team for the first time this fall, went 3-0 on the weekend. They started with an 8-5 win over Georgia's Thomas Paulsell and Erik Grevelius, and then topped Tennessee's Angel Diaz and Mark Wallner in a tiebreaker by an 8-7 (6) score.
 
In the championship match Sunday morning, Galka and Ross defeated Ilarion Danilchenko and Dan Martin of Miami by an 8-1 score to take the title.
 
Galka, Ross and Spencer Gray were all successful in singles action, winning their Sunday matches in the consolation draws. Galka posted wins on the weekend over Ivan Mitric of Furman and Bojan Jankulovski of Miami. Ross had wins over Franco Aubone of Miami and Angle Guerrero of Georgia Tech, and Gray downed Danil Ozernoy of UNC Wilmington in his Sunday match.
 
Also, wrapping up the consolation play from the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Tad Maclean defeated No. 25 Axel Nefve of Notre Dame 6-2, 7-5, before finishing play with a loss to No 101 Karl Poling of Princeton, 6-3, 6-0.
 
The Tigers host the ITA Southern Regionals at the Yarbrough Tennis Center starting this Thursday. Admission is free and play continues through the championship matches on Tuesday, October 19.
