AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team is tied for sixth in this week's RoadToNationals.com rankings with a National Qualifying Score of 197.650.
"I'm really happy with the grit and determination of this young team this season," head coach Jeff Graba said. "With all the success, we still need to keep focused on the SEC Championship. It is the kickoff to postseason and this will be a great learning experience for us."
The Tigers (11-3-1, 5-1-1 SEC) kick off the postseason this weekend at the 2022 SEC Championships in Birmingham. Auburn will be the No. 3 seed and will compete in Session II of the championship. The Tigers will start off on beam at 7 p.m. CT and the meet will air live on SEC Network.
Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan and Utah are still ranked in the top four. LSU jumped to No. 5 with Auburn and Alabama tied for sixth. Kentucky is ninth with Missouri coming in at No. 11. Arkansas and Georgia are among the top 25 at No. 17 and No. 22, respectively.
Auburn remains fourth this week on beam at 49.485 and fifth on bars with a 49.450 NQS. The squad moved up on vault following a successful showing at Michigan last Saturday and are tied for fifth with at 49.400. The Tigers are sixth on floor with a 49.490.
Freshman Sunisa Lee is second nationally in the all-around with a 39.750 NQS, winning seven all-around titles this season. She is tied for first on beam at 9.980 and on bars at 9.955. In addition, Lee is tied for seventh on floor with a 9.945 NQS.
Freshman Sophia Groth continues to have a stellar season on beam and is seventh nationally with a 9.945 NQS. Senior Derrian Gobourne jumped to sixth on floor following a 9.95 at Michigan, holding a 9.950 NQS. Fifth year Drew Watson is tied for 15th on vault at 9.905.
