AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior Carolyn Ansari has been named Senior Player of the Year and Most Improved Senior for the Southern Region, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday.

Ansari has earned the 10th and 11th player honors from the ITA in program history and has become the first Tiger player to be honored with an ITA regional award since Taylor Russo received the ITA Southern Region Award for Sportsmanship in 2021.

The Greensboro, North Carolina native finished the season ranked 29th in singles and 32nd in doubles alongside partner Ariana Arseneault. Ansari also received Singles All-American honors from the ITA as well as first team All-SEC honors this season. The Auburn senior posted a 21-16 singles record and an 18-16 doubles record overall and also recorded nine wins over ranked opponents over the course of the season (four in dual matches).

At the 2023 NCAA Singles Championships, Ansari defeated No. 57 Casie Wooten of Wake Forest and No. 5 Alexa Noel of Miami to advance to the round of 16. The win over Noel marked the highest ranked singles win of Ansari's career.

In Ansari's four-seasons on the Plains, she holds a 78-47 overall singles record and a 65-59 overall doubles record. Her 78 singles victories places her in a tie for eighth all-time in Auburn history and she is currently in a tie for 10th in career combined victories with 143.

The ITA Southern Region includes all Division I schools in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
