AUBURN, Ala. – Candice Jackson, a 20-year coaching veteran with experience at the highest levels, will join the Auburn women’s basketball staff as assistant coach and chief of staff, head coach Larry Vickers announced today.
Jackson joins the Tigers’ staff after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at VCU.
“I feel extremely blessed to be able to add someone to my staff with the experience Candice Jackson brings,” Vickers said. “She is a proven winner at multiple levels, and she knows what it takes to recruit the kind of talent it takes to win championships.”
Jackson boasts more than 20 years of Division I coaching experience with assistant coaching stops at Duke, Wake Forest, Buffalo and Richmond, along with a stint as Director of Recruiting at her alma mater, Michigan State. She also served five seasons as head coach at the College of Charleston from 2014-19.
“I am excited and appreciative of the opportunity to work at Auburn,” Jackson said. “Coach LV is one of the most talented and passionate coaches in women’s basketball, and I am looking forward to working alongside him on the Plains. The history and tradition of this program, being a part of a family atmosphere, and coaching in the best conference in women’s basketball made the decision very easy to join his staff. War Eagle!”
She helped lead Duke to back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances in 2012 and 2013 and helped the Blue Devils land the nation’s second-ranked recruiting class in 2013.
During her career, she has worked with 12 McDonald’s High School All-Americans, two WNBA First-Round draft picks, two USBWA All-Americans and three AP All-Americans.
Prior to Duke, Jackson spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest. There, she aided in the signing of the program’s first Top 100 signee and mentored two All-ACC selections. Jackson also helped lead the Demon Deacons to an 18-14 overall record and WNIT appearance in 2009-10.
Jackson spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Richmond prior to Wake Forest where she helped take the team from a 13-17 record in 2005-06 to a 24-10 record and WNIT berth in 2008-09.
She was a four-year letterwinner at Michigan State and was team captain as a junior and senior. She served as a graduate assistant for the 2004-05 team that finished as national runner-up, defeating No. 1 Tennessee in the Final Four.
