AUBURN, Ala.  The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame inducted a trio of Tiger greats and honored another Auburn legend with a prestigious award Saturday at its 57th annual induction banquet and ceremony in Birmingham.

Former Auburn golfer Jason Dufner, football standout Frank Warren and 1970s basketball star Mike Mitchell joined the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025.

Longtime Auburn Athletics administrator Buddy Davidson won the 2025 Mel Allen Award, which honors media members in Alabama who have made a lifetime contribution to sports through their work. The award is named after the 1974 ASHOF Inductee Mel Allen, a Birmingham native who was known as the “Voice of the New York Yankees” for two decades.

Winner of the 2013 PGA Championship, Dufner has lived in Auburn since 2002 and has previously served as a volunteer coach for the Tigers’ men’s golf team.

With 18 double-doubles in 1974-75, Mitchell, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 55, held Auburn’s season record for 50 years until Johni Broome broke it this season by recording 21 while leading the Tigers to the Final Four.
