AUBURN, Ala. - No. 11 Auburn women's tennis fell to No. 6 Vanderbilt, 4-0 in the NCAA Championships Round of 16, ending a historic season.
After taking the first point in the first match against Vanderbilt on Apr. 15, Auburn dropped the doubles point, losing on courts one and three. Andie Dikosavljevic and Alannah Griffin were leading No. 37 Frances Altick and Astra Sharma when the doubles point was clinched.
Vanderbilt clinched the match, after winning on courts three, four and five. No. 20 Dikosavljevic was leading No. 18 Sydney Campbell 5-1 in the third set when the match was clinched, while No. 31 Alizee Michaud was leading No. 14 Frances Altick 5-1, also in the third set.
Auburn women's tennis finishes the season with a 24-8 (9-4 SEC) record, which is a program record for single season victories.
No. 20 Dikosavljevic and No. 38 Michaud will both compete in the NCAA Singles Championships beginning Wednesday. Michaud will also pair with Pleun Burgmans in the NCAA Doubles Championship as the No. 8 seed.
