AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn equestrian team was recognized for its national and SEC championship titles with a Resolution presented by Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. at the Auburn City Council meeting held Tuesday.

The team's six seniors, Ashley Foster, Tory Hoft, Hannah Stephens, Jacqueline Shilen, Lena Hernig and Caroline Becker represented the rest of their teammates at the meeting and accepted the Resolution in matching tracksuits and smiles.

"It was an incredible experience to have the town of Auburn recognize the team like that," Foster said. "We love this town and love giving back to it. It makes us want to achieve so much more knowing we have one of the most amazing family behind us."

The recognition from the city of Auburn meant a great deal not only to the team members and coaches but to head coach Greg Williams specifically. For many years the equestrian team has been involved with community activities and community service because of Williams' passion for Auburn.

"That recognition means so much to me because it's what the team does," Williams said. "The fact that they [the team] are in the schools and working with the kids in this town makes this such a show of appreciation for what they [the team] give back to the community, not just for the fact that they win."

The four-time national championship winning team is still celebrating their most recent titles and will receive their title rings at the Auburn vs. LSU football game, Sept. 24. Accepting their rings in front of thousands of members of the Auburn family will be a memory they won't soon forget.
