ORANGE BEACH, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Making its 21st appearance in the postseason and 16th-straight, the Auburn soccer team is set to begin its quest for a second SEC Tournament title. The Tigers (13-5-0) are slated to face Tennessee in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 12 p.m. on the SEC Network.
Auburn rides into the annual postseason tournament as the No. 2 seed after going 9-2-0 in SEC play this season, matching a program record for conference wins in a single season. The Tigers finished second in the league for the fourth time in program history and are the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament for the second time.
Auburn is 10-10 in its first match of the SEC Tournament in program history, but is 5-2 since 2009 in its opening fixture of the postseason.
The Tigers and Volunteers (11-8-1) have met 22 times with the Vols holding a slight 11-8-3 edge in the series. Auburn is 1-3-1 against Tennessee in the SEC Tournament, but have advanced in their last two meetings with an outright 2-0 win in 2011 and a draw in 2012 which saw Auburn win 5-3 in penalties.
Casie Ramsier was recently named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and All-SEC First Team, headlining a program-record seven players who were honored by the league office to cap off the 2016 regular season.
Kiana Clarke and Kristen Dodson joined Casie Ramsier as All-SEC First Team selections, while Sarah Le Beau and Brooke Ramsier were picked as All-SEC Second Team choices. Bri Folds and Karli Gutsche earned recognition in their first seasons on the pitch after they were tabbed to the All-SEC Freshman Team.
The winner of the match on Wednesday will move onto the semifinals on Friday night. Kickoff for that match is scheduled for 6 p.m. against the winner of the Arkansas-Vanderbilt tilt.
All matches from the single-elimination tournament will be televised on the SEC Network.
Player to Watch: Bri Folds
Freshman sensation Bri Folds has adjusted to the college game and has picked up her individual performance as of late. In her last eight matches, the Lakeland, Fla. native has amassed 11 points by way of three goals and five assists. Folds was the second-highest scoring freshman in the conference and was selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team.

The Tigers and Volunteers have met 22 times, dating back to 1997. Auburn has amassed 28 goals during that span and has held Tennessee to one goal or fewer 15 times, including the last seven matchups.

A win by Auburn would give the Tigers' their 11th opening-match victory in the SEC Tournament all-time, their second-consecutive triumph against Tennessee this season and their third-straight advancement against the Vols in conference tournament play.
