AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 55 Auburn men's tennis team posted a pair of 4-0 wins over Alabama A&M Saturday evening at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The competition began with singles play, and each contest was clinched without doubles.
Edward Nguyen, Max Sivalls and Viboosh Chandrasekar recorded singles wins in the first match before Joseph Van Dooren clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court three.
In the second match, Van Dooren, Chandrasekar and Olle Thestrup posted singles wins before Brandon Laubser clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on court two.
"Some guys got some match play in, which was good to see, and they performed well," said Auburn head coach Eric Shore. "Now we've got to get ready for tomorrow's match with Vanderbilt."
The Tigers return to SEC play Sunday hosting No. 49 Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. The first 50 fans at Sunday's match will receive a free Auburn Tennis t-shirt. All home matches are played at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
Auburn's tentative lineup in singles against the Commodores will be: 1) Marko Krickovic; 2) Max Hinnisdaels; 3) Dante Saleh; 4) Conner Huertas del Pino; 5) Brandon Laubser; 6) Olle Thestrup. In doubles, Auburn's tentative lineup will be: 1) Krickovic/Hinnisdaels; 2) Laubser/Thestrup; 3) Huertas del Pino/Saleh.
Auburn is now 11-9 and ranked No. 55 nationally. Vanderbilt is ranked No. 43 with a 12-10 overall record and a 3-4 SEC mark.
