2017 Schedule
AUBURN, Ala. - Looking to build off the most successful season in program history, head coach Karen Hoppa and the Auburn soccer team have announced the 2017 fall schedule.
The Tigers are set to take on a challenging slate as they will face nine programs that made the 2016 NCAA Tournament, including four that reached the Sweet 16.
"We are excited to release the fall schedule," said Hoppa. "It's going to be another tough, competitive fall, with the non-conference highlighted by a trip to play Duke and UNC, and the always exciting SEC schedule."
Auburn has a pair of exhibitions to open the season at Georgia (Aug. 10) and versus Samford (Aug. 12).
The Tigers kick off the 2017 campaign with a home match against a common foe in South Alabama, Aug. 18, at the Auburn Soccer Complex. Auburn holds a 12-1 advantage in the series all-time and took the result in both meetings with the Jaguars in 2016.
Courtney Schell capped the first victory with a header in overtime in Mobile, while a goal barrage elevated the Tigers to a 4-0 triumph in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Auburn.
Auburn then takes on a new opponent in Lipscomb (Aug. 20) before hitting the road for a stiff test at Clemson (Aug. 25). The Tigers will look to avenge a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Clemson to open the 2016 season when it makes the trip east.
Next, Auburn welcomes another new foe to The Plains in North Dakota (Aug. 27) to close out the opening month of the season.
The Tigers then make the trip to North Carolina in what could be the toughest test of non-conference play. Auburn is scheduled to take part in the Duke Nike Classic, featuring duels against North Carolina (Sept. 1) and Duke (Sept. 3).
The Tar Heels reached the NCAA College Cup a season ago, while the Blue Devils were knocked out of the postseason tournament in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Auburn has split a pair of one-goal decisions with Duke in series history and has earned a draw against North Carolina in two meetings all-time.
The Tigers return home for a season-long three-game stretch that features two non-conference bouts sandwiched around the opening match of SEC play.
Auburn is set to host High Point (Sept. 8) and Alabama State (Sept. 17) to conclude the non-league portion of the regular season.
SEC action gets rolling for the Tigers with a matchup with Texas A&M (Sept. 15) at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The Aggies boast a 5-2 record in the series, however, Auburn emerged victories with a 2-0 win in the last duel on The Plains in 2015.
The Tigers tangle with Tennessee (Sept. 21) in their first road trip in conference play. Auburn scored six goals against the Volunteers last season and has not lost in the last six battles in series history.
A home affair with Kentucky (Sept. 24) and a short drive to Mississippi State (Sept. 28) round out the month for the Tigers.
Auburn has a four-game winning streak in its series the Bulldogs, outscoring the opposition 10-0 in that span. Meanwhile, the Tigers have split the last four duels with the Wildcats, all coming with a 2-1 score line.
Next, Auburn entertains Arkansas (Oct. 5) in a rematch of last year's thrilling 3-2 victory at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The Tigers own a 15-7-2 record against the Razorbacks all-time.
After a one-year hiatus, the rivalry renews in Tuscaloosa as Auburn travels to in-state foe Alabama (Oct. 8). The Tigers have emerged victorious in nine of the last 10 meetings and has won 15 of 24 against the Tide.
Auburn then plays host to Florida (Oct. 13). Despite trailing in the overall series, the Tigers dominated the pitch in 2016. Auburn held a 6-1 advantage in scoring and handed Florida its worst home SEC loss in program history with a 3-0 drubbing in Gainesville.
The Tigers went on to defeat the Gators in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, 3-1, to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
Auburn will then take to the road for an away match at Ole Miss (Oct. 19). The two teams are deadlocked in the all-time series at 11-11-2.
The final regular season home fixture is set to feature Auburn and LSU (Oct. 22). As the road team last season, the orange and blue Tigers secured a late game-winner off the boot of Casie Ramsier to take a 2-1 decision. Auburn has won the last seven duels in the series and is 17-8-1 against LSU all-time.
The Tigers close out the regular season with a road tilt at Vanderbilt (Oct. 26). Auburn owns a 10-6-4 advantage in the series and has not suffered defeat since 2005, spanning 10 matches. In last year's 2-1 victory, Kristen Dodson and Brooke Ramsier netted goals to pace the Tigers to a win to open SEC play.
Continuing the tradition, the SEC Tournament will once again be held in Orange Beach, Ala., Oct. 30-Nov. 5.
The NCAA Tournament begins Nov. 10 with the first four rounds set to take place on campus sites until the College Cup, Dec. 1-3.
