AUBURN, Ala. - Head coach Butch Thompson and the Auburn baseball program are scheduled to begin their third season together as the Tigers kick off fall practice Thursday afternoon at Plainsman Park.

"We've been working hard since school started," Thompson said. "We're entering our fall season when we're all together, which is exciting, but we've been working hard for a number of weeks now. A word I've used early on is 'appreciation'. I hope our guys have an appreciation for where they are and an excitement to tackle this fall as we start on a journey tomorrow."

The Tigers will practice Thursday, Friday and Sunday this weekend with early work beginning at 2 p.m. CT and batting practice at 3 p.m. Fundamental team practice will start at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to come out to Plainsman Park to not only get a sneak peek of the 2018 team, but also check out the newly-renovated playing surface that includes artificial turf down both foul lines and around the outfield warning track.

The team's first of 21 intrasquad games this fall is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11. The Tigers will wrap up their fall slate with the annual Orange and Blue World Series on Tuesday, Nov. 14, Thursday, Nov. 16 and Friday, Nov. 17. Further practice times and dates will be made available on a week-by-week basis.

Auburn is coming off a 2017 season that saw the program advance to its second NCAA Regional in the last three seasons and win the most games since 2010. The Tigers' roster includes 17 returners, headlined by All-American Casey Mize, and a 16-man recruiting class that was ranked in the top eight in the country by a pair of publications this fall.

Coach Thompson and the baseball program will also host its annual "Select a Seat" event following the Auburn vs. Ole Miss football game Saturday, Oct. 7. Fans will have the opportunity to not only take a first-hand look at available seats in Plainsman Park, but will also be able to purchase season tickets, which are $185 and cover the cost of the Tigers' 35-game home schedule.

Season tickets can be reserved with a Billy Hitchcock Tigers Unlimited donation, and information can be found here. Tigers Unlimited members have the opportunity to retain their seats from year to year and are eligible for upgrading seats based on availability. Information on renewing season tickets will be sent in early November.
