AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University, Auburn Athletics and the City of Auburn are partnering to deliver an unprecedented event to celebrate the official start of the 2018-19 basketball season with Tipoff at Toomer's, Oct. 11.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will deliver a unique experience for the Auburn family, as well as provide an iconic backdrop for spectators across the country.
Tipoff at Toomer's will take place on a basketball court at the heart of where the city and university converge at the corner of College St. and Magnolia Ave.
"Tipoff at Toomer's is a celebration of Auburn basketball, it's a celebration of the history of our university and athletic program and some of the most iconic celebrations in the history of college sports," head coach Bruce Pearl said. "To have the SEC Network here and a national television audience for one hour on October 11th tells you how far our program has come.
"We're excited to show off the best college basketball fans in the country in what will be a great night for the program and university in this uniquely Auburn event."
The event will feature a full day of festivities, starting at 10 a.m. CT with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament open to current Auburn University students. Tiger Talk will broadcast live from 6-7 p.m. CT on the court.
The Auburn men's basketball team will take the floor for the main event at 8 p.m. CT, which includes player introductions, 3-point contest, dunk contest and 3-on-3 games, and will broadcast live on the SEC Network.
Following the main event, the evening wraps up with an autograph session where Auburn fans will be able to meet and greet the 2018-19 men's basketball team.
Throughout the day and into the evening, fans are encouraged to browse local stores, restaurants and other businesses surrounding the footprint of the event at Toomer's Corner.
There will also be interactive fan areas on the Samford lawn.
Starting at 10 p.m. CT on Wednesday evening, the following streets will be closed: W Magnolia Ave. at Wright St., S College St. at Thatch Ave., E Magnolia Ave. at Gay St. and N College St. at Tichenor Ave.
Coinciding with Auburn University's fall break, fans are encouraged to park in the library deck and Comer lot.
The event is proudly sponsored by Auburn-Opelika Tourism, Auburn University Student Affairs, Coca-Cola, Alabama Power and Thompson Tractor. The court will be sponsored by Under Armour. Melt Agency is assisting Auburn Athletics with the logistics of Tipoff at Toomer's.
