AUBURN, Ala. – Eight swimmers have been selected for the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, later this month. The eight swimmers are Erin Falconer, Claire Fisch, Jewels Harris, Emily Hetzer, Julie Meynen, Bailey Nero, Sonnele Oeztuerk and Aly Tetzloff.
Falconer, Fisch, Meynen, Nero, Oeztuerk and Tetzloff each have prior NCAA experience, with four of them having scored points at the NCAA meet.
Tetzloff has collected three All-America honors and five honorable mention All-America honors to lead the returnees. Two of her top-8 finishes came last year when she tied for sixth in the 50 free and was seventh in the 100 free. Her third was as part of the 200 free relay in 2017 that finished seventh.
Meynen has earned five honorable mention All-America honors, Falconer has earned four honorable mention All-America honors and Oeztuerk has two honorable mention All-America honors.
All five of Auburn's relays are also eligible to compete at the championships, with the 400 free relay owning the fifth-fastest time in the nation, the 200 free relay owning the sixth-fastest, the 400 medley relay owning the seventh-fastest, the 800 free relay owning the ninth-fastest and the 200 medley relay owning the 11th-fastest time in the nation.
Junior diver Alison Maillard will attempt to make the championships next week as Auburn hosts the Zone B Diving Championships, Monday-Wednesday at the Martin Aquatics Center.
Admission to the Zone Diving Championships is free.
The 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 20-23 at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the University of Texas campus at Austin.
