Austin, Texas—Kylee Carter wrapped up an incredible junior season at Auburn with a NCAA runner up in the women's javelin throw Friday during Day 3 of the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus. Carter's second-place was the best finish ever by an Auburn women's thrower at NCAA Outdoors.

Carter had an outstanding meet, throwing 55.78m/183-0 on her second of three prelim throws to advance to finals before posting a best mark of 56.40/185-0 on the sixth and last attempt. The Beauregard, Ala., native maintained second place throughout the entire competition.

"I'm just really happy I could land a second place. It's awesome," Carter said. "The coaches, staff and training partners; we've all worked really, really hard all season long. It showed and I'm glad it paid off at nationals. Overall, I thought it was a really good meet. I felt like I had more control than some other meets. The competition was great as usual."

The 2019 SEC Outdoor Champion, Carter had three of the four best throws among all 24 competitors, being surpassed just once, by Stanford's Mackenzie Little. The defending NCAA Champion, Little won her second-consecutive title with mark of 59.44/195-0 on her first attempt.
