AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn returns to the road in men's tennis with a match Friday at Minnesota and a contest Sunday at Nebraska.
The Tigers will face the Gophers at 6 p.m. CT at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Auburn plays the Cornhuskers Sunday at noon CT at the Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb, in a pair of non-conference matchups. Auburn is 5-0 for the spring season, while Minnesota is 2-1 and Nebraska is 0-2.
"We have to stay hungry, and another great opportunity comes this weekend against teams that could make the NCAA tournament at Minnesota and at Nebraska," Auburn coach Bobby Reynolds said. "Obviously, it's going to be cold there and we'll be playing indoors. Minnesota is a senior-heavy team – guys that have been playing college tennis for a while – we lost to them here in a very close match last season. Nebraska is a very enthusiastic, vocal environment at home, so again, it's one where we need to come in and be ready.
"What we've been stressing is the fight, the grit, the determination and not backing down when you're faced with adversity. That's where we're seeing maturity and growth in our team right now."
The Tigers return home for a pair of matches Friday, February 7, against Florida State (noon) and The Citadel (5 p.m.). All Auburn home tennis action is at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
