As the offseason rolls along, we'd like to introduce the newcomers for the upcoming 2020 softball season. With first pitch set for Feb. 7 in Clearwater, Fla., at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, we'll check in with all 13 new additions to the squad.
Our next addition to the 2020 team is freshman, Maddison Koepke.
Q: Why did you choose to play softball at Auburn?
Koepke: It's a competitive school that isn't far from home, but it is still a big team in the SEC.
Q: Do you have any pregame superstitions?
Koepke: I always listen to the song "Rise" by Katy Perry.
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
Koepke: Rolling Toomer's Corner is one of the coolest experiences ever.
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
Koepke: I love cookie cakes. Those are the best.
Q: What is your major, and what do you plan to do with it?
Koepke: Right now, I am pre-vet because I would love to be a veterinarian one day.
Q: What is your favorite fruit and your least favorite vegetable?
Koepke: I love bananas, but I am not a big fan of zucchini.
Q: What has been the highlight of your softball career so far?
Koepke: Winning the Georgia state championship my freshman year of high school.
Q: What is the best trip you've ever been on?
Koepke: Our family trip to Blue Mountain Beach, Fla. It was very relaxing and extremely beautiful.
Q: Are you currently watching anything on Netflix?
Koepke: Grey's Anatomy - always a solid choice.
Q: What is your favorite Auburn sport other than softball?
Koepke: Auburn baseball is always exciting to cheer for.
Q: What does the "Auburn Family" mean to you?
Koepke: Knowing that the people to the left and to the right of me always have my back; and even though I'm away from my real family while at school, I'll always have a "family" here in Auburn with me.
