AUBURN, Ala. – First-year head coach Brent Crouch will kick off his inaugural season against Florida in Auburn Arena on Oct. 21, the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday.
The SEC released the eight-match, conference-only schedule for its member schools. The six weeks of competition begins on Oct. 16 and includes a week at the end of the season for any makeup matches for all schools. Each school will compete against four opponents, twice in the same weekend on back-to-back days.
"I love that we are getting tested early in our SEC schedule against some of the top teams in the conference," Crouch said. "It's remarkable that the SEC and Auburn have been able to put into place health protocols that can make this fall season a reality. Our players are looking to put last season behind them and take a positive step forward this year. I'm happy for them that the opportunity is now."
The Tigers will follow up its Wednesday night season opener with a second meeting with the Gators on Thursday, Oct. 22. First serve for both matches is set for 8 p.m. CT.
Auburn will hit the road for its next two series, which begins with a trek to South Carolina on Wednesday, Oct. 28 with an 7 p.m. CT serve against the Gamecocks. The trip to Columbia will wrap on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The road swing continues Nov. 7 and 8 with two contests at Kentucky. Both matches are slated for 3 p.m. CT.
Auburn's fall schedule concludes inside Auburn Arena with matches against Tennessee on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22.
A makeup week for any contests postponed due to COVID-19 is set for the week of Nov. 23-27.
The 2020 fall television schedule will be announced at a later date.
SEC volleyball teams will participate in spring competition. Details of formats are contingent on final decisions by the NCAA to conduct spring championships in those sports.
