Tennis season beginning

Auburn's 2021 spring men's tennis schedule is taking shape. Eleven home matches highlight the slate, which includes SEC home matches with Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss and Arkansas.

The Tigers open the season with a pair of matches on Sunday, January 17, hosting Georgia Southern at 9 a.m. and entertaining Samford at 2 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. SEC play begins February 19, when Auburn visits South Carolina.

"We're relay looking forward to having everyone back on campus and getting the guys working out on the courts," Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds said. "We have a great schedule this spring, with 19 of our 22 matches coming against Top 50 opponents.

"We obviously start the SEC schedule two weeks earlier than normal, and will miss one of our favorite weekends of the year at the Blue-Gray in Montgomery as a result, but in order to give ourselves the highest probability of finishing conference play, we will need two bye weekends.

"Our guys will be challenged with this spring's schedule, but it will ultimately prepare us for SEC competition and postseason play."

All Auburn home tennis action is at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (1717 Richland Road, Auburn) and admission is free. Fans are welcome to attend any matches played outdoors and must wear face coverings; only participants will be able to access the indoor courts and offices.
