Kurtz named SEC Flat Rider of the Month

AUBURN, Ala. – Senior Emma Kurtz of the No. 3 Auburn equestrian team was named the Southeastern Conference Flat Rider of the Month for January, the league office announced Thursday.
 
The Hudson, Ohio product put together a 2-0-0 record for the Tigers as the squad hosted a Jumping Seat only quad meet to start 2022.  She averaged 77 points over the two wins with an eight-point win margin.
 
Kurtz led off with a 73-66.5 victory over her SUNY New Paltz opponent, earning the second-highest point total of the meet in the event (Jan. 28).
 
She followed with an 81-71.5 win against Dartmouth (Jan. 29), earning MOP honors for the squad. Kurtz's victory helped the Tigers sweep Dartmouth in the event and the MOP was her third in Flat this season.
 
Auburn returns to action this weekend, hosting Ole Miss and No. 10 Delaware State at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. The Tigers will take on the Rebels in a Jumping Seat-only contest Friday, Feb. 11, at 2:30 p.m. CT. Auburn and the Hornets will face off Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. CT.
