AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn equestrian head coach Greg Williams was honored by the Alabama Cattlemen's Association and inducted into the Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame in March.

"This is an incredible honor having been in and around the livestock business for most of my life," Williams said. "It's humbling to be added to the list of names that have been inducted before and hard to believe I am now among them."

The induction ceremony was held March 5 at the Alabama Cattlemen's Association Convention and Trade Show. The yearly event was hosted in Mobile, Alabama at the Mobile Convention Center.

In his 27th season at the helm of the Auburn equestrian team, and 20th as a varsity sport, Williams has continued to add prestige to the program. He put the Tigers on the map with its first national title in 2006 and has taken home five national championships in the past 11 years.

Williams graduated from Auburn with a bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences in 1986. His career in the horse industry began at a young age as he showed horses and competed in rodeos.

Prior to becoming Auburn's head coach, his beginning years as a professional were spent in the South and the Southwest, training pleasure horses as well as cutting, haltering and roping horses. These horses were shown at Futurities, Congress and World shows. He began his work at Auburn, running the Horse Teaching and Researching Unit. He also continued his professional showing career during his first years back.

The Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame was established in 1981 by the Alabama Cattlemen's Association and the Southeastern Livestock Exposition.
