AUBURN, Ala. – No. 22 Auburn has been selected to participate in the Durham regional, the NCAA announced on Monday. The Tigers' selection marks the 39th NCAA postseason bid in program history and the second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships.
Auburn will be joined in the Durham regional with host school No. 11 Duke, UNC Wilmington and Cornell.
"We are excited to continue our season into the NCAA regionals in Durham," Auburn Head Coach Bobby Reynolds said after the selection. "This is a great accomplishment for our program that hasn't made back-to-back regionals since the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The entire year is a journey to prepare you for the postseason, and this team is ready for what lies ahead. Our team has proven the ability to beat the best teams in the country this year, and it's my job to get them ready for the challenges this weekend. Our guys are looking to build off last year's postseason run and take it one step further."
The Tigers will play their first-round match against Cornell at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday while Duke and UNC Wilmington will square off at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. The winners of the first-round matches will play at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday in the second round. The winner of the second-round match will advance to the round of 16.
Last season, Auburn defeated Texas Tech in the NCAA first-round matchup 4-1 in the Winston-Salem regional.
