With the fall semester winding down, Auburn softball is making the most of its time on campus before the holiday break with its final practices. We continue to spotlight one of the newcomers to the program that hopes to help carry 2023's momentum into a new season.
Utility Thalia Martin is looking to cause some ruckus this season on the Plains. The true freshman is a graduate of Brookwood High School and hails from Lilburn, Georgia. Already seeing action this fall, Martin is coming off a huge performance in Auburn's fall season finale.
Q: Why did you decide to commit to Auburn softball?
Martin: I chose Auburn because from the second I stepped foot on campus it felt like home. Meeting the team and the coaching staff was just the icing on the cake. Auburn is the pure definition of an "everything" school and that is something I knew that I wanted to be a part of!
Q: What uniform combo are you most looking forward to wearing?
Martin: Anything with the white jersey! I am a HUGE white jersey girl!
Q: What makes Auburn softball special?
Martin: Auburn softball is truly a family! There are not many programs that can make you feel like family the second you walk in, and I was blessed enough to feel that family atmosphere right away!
Q: What jersey number are you wearing this season? Does it have any special meaning?
Martin: This season I am wearing No. 1. It's special to me because it is the number I wore when I felt as though I really established myself as an elite player. My little brother and I both wear it, and it means a lot to the both of us.
Q: What teammate(s) have helped you adjust since arriving at Auburn?
Martin: All of my teammates have helped me in one way or another. They all welcomed me with open arms and showed me the ropes on how college life works!
Q: What HAS to be on your pregame playlist?
Martin: DEFINITELY Lil' Baby! Nobody in the world gets me as hype for game day as he does!
Q: What's your major? What do you plan to do with your degree?
Martin: My major is health service administration. I plan on getting all of my pre-requisites done under this major. After I graduate, I plan on going back to school for nursing.
Q: What is your favorite homecooked meal?
Martin: My Papa's mac and cheese! Over the past 18 years I have NEVER had mac and cheese better than his! He's the G.O.A.T.!!
Q: If you could give a message to the Auburn Family about the upcoming season, what would to be?
Martin: This season is going to be exciting, and I can't wait to FINALLY be a part of it! There is no us without you, so I hope y'all are ready to show up and show out just as much as we are! WAR EAGLE!!
