TUSLA, Okla. – Auburn concluded play at the ITA All-American Championships on Wednesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Senior Raul Dobai picked up three singles victories in the singles qualifying rounds and earned a spot in the singles main draw for the event.
On the first day of the championships, sophomore Billy Blaydes earned two victories in straight sets during the singles prequalifying rounds over Esteban Lopez of North Carolina A&T as well as Yeray Andres Pastor of Troy. Blaydes was one singles victory away from advancing to the singles qualifying round when he was defeated on Sunday.
Will Nolan also recorded a singles victory over Charlelie Cosnet of Kentucky on Saturday.
During the opening rounds of singles qualifying on Monday, Raul Dobai defeated Wake Forest's Franco Capalbo 7-5, 6-4 while Alejandro Moreno took down Michael Minasyn from Wisconsin 6-2, 7-6 (4).
Dobai earned two more victories on Tuesday over Michigan State's Khololwam Montsi by retirement and Florida's Nate Bonetto 7-6 (4), 7-5, 6-4 to get a bid into the main draw.
The next event on the fall slate for the Tigers will be the ITA Southern Regional Championships. Auburn will be hosting the event at the Yarbrough Tennis Center October 12-17.
