AUBURN, Ala. – Senior Isabella Tesmer and freshman Brooke Jolstad were named SEC Riders of the Month for October, the Southeastern Conference office announced Thursday.
The honor is the first for both in their careers as Tesmer and Jolstad helped the Tigers finish October with a 4-0-0 record, defeating four Top 10 opponents.
Tesmer was named SEC Reining Rider of the Month after going 4-0-0 in the event. She kicked off the month with a 69.5-68 win at No. 7 Baylor (Oct. 6), helping the Tigers sweep the Bears in Reining on the road.
The Mount Orab, Ohio product followed with an MOP performance on the road, scoring a 70 in her victory at No. 10 UT Martin (Oct. 13). Her win was a key moment for the squad as it was the second-to-last ride in the meet and gave Auburn its crucial 10th point of the contest.
Tesmer put together a pair of big scores at home against SEC opponents to close out the month, opening with a 71.5 in her win against No. 6 Georgia (Oct. 20). She capped October with a 71-70.5 edge over No. 7 South Carolina (Oct. 27), helping the Tigers go 4-0-1 in the event against the Gamecocks.
Jolstad had an outstanding month in Horsemanship, averaging a 74.8 with a 3-0-0 record.
The Lakewood, Colorado native led off with a big win, topping her UT Martin opponent with a 74-69.5 victory.
She followed with the first MOP of her career, scoring a 75 to edge her Georgia opponent at home. Jolstad closed out the month with a career-high 75.5 against South Carolina, helping the Tigers sweep the Gamecocks in the event.
No. 2 Auburn caps the fall season with two meets on the road, traveling to No. 4 Texas A&M and No. 3 SMU this weekend. The Tigers and the Aggies face off at 1 p.m. CT in Bryan-College Station on Friday before Auburn takes on the Mustangs Saturday at 10 a.m. CT in Dallas.
