I was trying to relax at the plate: see ball, hit ball. Coach Chris and I talked today about getting my hands back and trying to lift the ball. That was a big help today.

I think the biggest growth has been understanding the system on both sides of the ball. We’re using the fall as a chance to understand the personalities - how the team reacts, what things make them tick and what things we need to work on. We’re learning who the competitive personalities are and how they are really able to interact with each other.

There is a lot of growth and development happening throughout the team, even with such a senior-heavy team. The staff is bringing in new perspectives and great personalities. They are great people. I think we’re all working together great.

In a good way, the fall games haven’t been 100 percent easy the whole time. We’re learning how we work out of certain situations and who doesn’t mind stepping right in and can put fires out and make adjustments.
