AUBURN, Ala. – No. 25 Men's tennis is set to face off against Arkansas on Sunday in Fayetteville. Auburn's third straight road match will begin at noon CT at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
"We're on the road at a tough place to play at Arkansas, especially if you have to play indoors," said Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds. "This is our last weekend on the road before we have a great four matches at home, so we've got to give everything we have. We must empty the tank because they're playing for their postseason at this point."
The Tigers will look to bounce back from a difficult road weekend that featured losses to Vanderbilt and No. 5 Kentucky. Despite the losses, Auburn is still fifth in the Southeastern Conference standings with a 4-3 record against conference opponents.
Sophomore Billy Blaydes continues his impressive play for the Tigers this season, earning his eighth consecutive singles victory against Vanderbilt on Friday and remaining perfect against SEC opponents at 6-0. Blaydes was leading his singles match at Arkansas when it was abandoned. This season, Blaydes leads the team in overall singles wins with a 21-9 overall record and has posted a 15-3 mark in dual matches.
Arkansas, ranked 49th in the nation by the ITA, holds a 14-9 overall record and has a 1-6 record in the SEC this season. The Razorbacks have dropped each of their last three matches to Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky. The team's lone conference win was a 7-0 shutout of Vanderbilt on Mar. 8.
Arkansas has made multiple lineup changes this season, but has recently featured Bozo Barun at the top of the singles lineup card. Barun has a 10-10 overall record this season and has recorded a 1-5 record against conference opponents.
Barun and Jared Horwood make up the Razorbacks' No. 1 doubles team and currently hold a ranking of 29th from the ITA. The duo have a 3-2 overall record this season.
