Fourteen Auburn Athletics Teams Record Perfect Academic Progress Rate Scores

May 23, 2018

AUBURN, Ala. -- Fourteen of Auburn's 19 Athletics teams posted a perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate score for the 2016-17 scoring period, according to NCAA APR scores released Wednesday.

Auburn's 19 sports safely scored within the multiyear Academic Progress Rate guidelines, with 89 percent of the programs posting a 980 or better.

Men's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's tennis, gymnastics and soccer were awarded public recognition by the NCAA last week for earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of their peers.

They were joined in the last scoring period with perfect scores by men's cross country, men's golf, men's tennis, men's track, women's swimming and diving, women's track, volleyball and equestrian.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

"To have 14 teams achieve perfect APR scores is a tremendous accomplishment," Director of Athletics Allen Greene said. "Fielding nationally competitive programs while balancing the demands of Auburn University's rigorous academics speaks to the extraordinary efforts of our student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff."
