2004 Women's NCAA Champions
Auburn's 2004 NCAA Championship team completed its quest for a third straight national title, demolishing the field by 138 points in College Station, Texas. Led by Olympic backstrokers Kirsty Coventry and Margaret Hoelzer, the Tigers used the second day of the competition to vault into the lead for good.
Hoelzer, a native of Huntsville, Ala., picked up the gold in the 200 freestyle and finished second to Coventry, who set the NCAA record, in the 200 backstroke on the final night of action. Auburn also claimed the 200 medley relay at the 2004 NCAA Championships, setting the NCAA and US Open record.
