Auburn Cross Country Finishes Season At South Regional; Wanyoike Qualifies For National Competition

Auburn's men's and women's cross country teams finished ninth and fourth, respectively in the NCAA South Regional in Maryville, Tenn., Saturday. Catherine Wanyoike, who finished fifth, became the sixth individual in Auburn history to qualify for the women's NCAA Championships.

Wanyoike was the top finisher for Auburn in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 22:13.27. Angela Homan was the next Tiger over the finish line in 11th place (22:32.99) while Spring Dawson finished 15th (22:36.50). Caitlin Reese placed 24th (23:01.09) and Sarah Reese finished 35th (23:23.06) to round out the top five spots for Auburn.

In the men's 10,000-meter race, David Riddle was the first Tiger across the line in 41st place (33:50.91). Chris George finished 46th (34:00.02) and Andrew Heath placed 53rd (34:08.86), while Patrick Mouser finished 54th (34:09.24) and Reade Kidd 57th (34:25.46) to round out the top five finishers for the Auburn men.

Wanyoike will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in the NCAA Championships on Nov. 25.
