Auburn Tigers Place Well At Meet of Champions

BRONX, New York - Auburn's women's and men's cross country teams took sixth and seventh place, respectively, at the ninth annual J.P. Doyle Meet of Champions hosted by Iona College on Saturday morning.

The women, coming off a first place finish in Chattanooga at the season opener, placed two runners in the top-10. Angela Homan claimed third place in the 6K event, turning in a time of 21:49.6.  Following behind her at tenth place was Catherine Wanyoike who had a time of 22:22.9.

Princeton's women claimed both the individual and team titles.  Emily Kroshus ran the meet in 21:32.3 for the individual crown.  Her Princeton teams' 36 points was enough to grab the team title.

On the men's side, the Tigers placed seventh and were led by Andrew Heath who posted a time of 25:50.7, capturing ninth place in the 8K run. David Riddle was the next Tiger to finish with a time of 26:28.7, good for 33rd place.

Iona's men took home the team title for the second consecutive year with 37 points.  Joe McAlister from Iona ran to first place with a time of 25:12.50.

The next time the Tiger's are in action will be on October 10, as Auburn returns home to host the Auburn Invitational held at Indian Pines Golf Course.
