HOMAN NAMED SEC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Sophomore Angela Homan was awarded the SEC Female Athlete of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.
Homan captured her second individual title of the season on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Mississippi State Invitational. Her time of 9:55.40 in the 3K was nearly 18 seconds faster than the next finisher. In the season opener at Chattanooga, Homan defeated 78 other runners to take home the individual victory and lead Auburn to top team honors.

Homan has paced the Tigers at every meet this season and has finished in the top 10 in all four races. She had a third place performance on Oct. 1 at the J.P. Doyle Meet of Champions in New York and in the Auburn Invitational on Oct. 10.

GOOD THINGS HAPPEN IN THREE'S

The Tiger men's cross country team won their third team title this season with 17 points on October 25 at the MSU Invitational. The men defeated SEC opponent Mississippi State.

For the fourth time this season, sophomore Andrew Heath led the men across the finish line. His time of 14:59.50 in the 5K was good enough to get him his second individual title of the season. Auburn placed four other runners in the top 10 of the 5K. Another Auburn five competed in the 6K, finishing second and placing all five runners in the top 10.

WOMEN WIN SECOND TEAM TITLE

The Auburn women's team competing in the 4K run at the Mississippi State captured the second team victory of the season. Senior Catherine Wanyoike led the Tigers, finishing second with a time of 13:52.50. Auburn had three other runners in the top 10. The women also won the season opener at Chattanooga on Sept. 5.

AUBURN IN THE RANKINGS

The United States Cross Country Coaches Association has Auburn ranked the Tigers fifth in the south in the 15-team spread (as of Oct. 20). Georgia, Florida and Alabama are just ahead of the Tigers.

TIGERS COMPETE AT SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Auburn's men and women travel to Athens, Ga., on November 3 for the SEC Championships. The race is hosted by Georgia and will be held on the University of Georgia Golf Course.
