Keyes Sets School Record for Wins as Auburn Beats Evansville, 7-0

AUBURN - Kristen Keyes set the Auburn career wins mark and the Tiger offense came alive to beat Evansville, 7-0, in the Tiger Invitational.

Keyes, who pitched four scoreless innings in relief, notched her 36th career victory to surpass Jen Lofton's previous mark of 35. She entered a scoreless game in the fourth and kept the Purple Ace bats in check, allowing just two hits while striking out five.

Holly Currie, who started at pitcher and moved to designated player when Keyes entered, ignited the Auburn offense with a leadoff home run in the fifth. Ashley Griffin, the next batter, doubled and eventually scored on pinch hitter Cami Fenn's single to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Tigers dropped four runs on Evansville in the sixth and added a single run in the seventh for the final margin.

Auburn pounded out eight hits, including four doubles and the Currie homer. Griffin was the most productive Auburn batter going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Katie Markle took the loss for the Purple Aces after giving up six runs, four earned, in six innings.
