AUBURN - The four Auburn seniors came through on Senior Day to carry the 15th-ranked Tigers to a 6-0 victory over Kentucky on Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field.

The win completed a sweep of the Wildcats as Auburn improved to 38-13 on the year and 19-10 in Southeastern Conference play. With the victory, the Tigers tied the school record for wins. Kentucky fell to 25-31-1 overall and 6-24 in the league.

"This was a great way for us to close out a great season," said Deese of the conference finale. "Hopefully it will give us some momentum heading into the postseason."

Lindsey Chitwood, making just her third start of the year at third base, came through with a pair of base hits and scored two runs. Fellow senior Cami Fenn went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

"I can't describe how happy I was for Chit to have a day like she had today," Deese said. "She has been there all year for her teammates and come out and worked hard every day. It was great to see her play so well today."

Kristen Keyes got the start and worked three innings, allowing just one hit. She yielded to Beth DiPietro in the fourth. DiPietro threw four no-hit innings to improve to 6-2 this season.

Kentucky's Gretchen Prugh took the loss, her second of the weekend. She went 3 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on six hits.

Auburn got two runs in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth. Lolani Alvarez drove one home on her ground out to short before Sara Dean brought home another with a two-out single to center. Dean went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Fenn executed a perfect squeeze bunt to plate Ashley Griffin for the Tigers first run in the fourth. After a Chitwood double, Holly Currie hit a sacrifice fly and Shannon Anderson singled to drive in Fenn and Chitwood, respectively.

Phillips' sacrifice fly scored Dean in the fifth after she led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Auburn returns to action on Monday afternoon at Jane B. Moore Field when it hosts No. 2 Florida State in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.

"It's always special to play Florida State," said Deese, who pitched for the Seminoles in 1984-85. "Every time we play it seems like it's always a tough, hard-fought game. I don't expect anything different (on Monday)."
