FRANKLIN, Tenn. - After two days of competition at the Mason Rudolph Championship, the Auburn women's golf team remains in seventh place at the Vanderbilt Legends Club on the par 72, 7,200-yard Ironhorse Course on Saturday.
Maria Martinez remains in striking distance with one round remaining as the senior is tied for third at 2-under after 36 holes of play (69-73--142). Jacqui Concolino of Vanderbilt is in first at 7-under (68-69--137) and Amanda Blumenherst of Duke is second at 4-under (69-71--140).
"I was happy with how we played today," head coach Kim Evans said. "Scores were up a little today all around, but overall, we had a solid round. We are in position to move up a few spots if we can close out the tournament with a good 18 holes tomorrow."
Behind Martinez, Auburn's Nicole Hage finished the day in a tie for ninth at 1-over (71-74--145), Margaret Shirley is tied for 34th at 4-over (74-76--150), Jessica Lovell is tied for 48th at 9-over (78-75--153) and Abigale Schepperle is tied for 52nd at 10-over (77-77--154). Freshman Mariana Macias shot a 5-over 77 on the day for a two-round total of 76-77--153 individually.
Georgia moved into a tie for the top team spot with Vanderbilt as the Bulldogs shot a 5-over 293 on the day, while Vanderbilt fired an 11-over 299 (279-299--578). Georgia and Vanderbilt are followed by Arizona State in third at 3-over (287-292--579), Duke in fourth at 6-over (285-279--582), UCLA in fifth at 9-over (290-295--585) and Arkansas in sixth at 11-over (291-296--587). The Tigers stand at seventh in the heavily competitive field of 15.
