Nov. 1, 2005

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Auburn senior Angela Homan has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after making history Saturday by becoming the second women ever to become a three-time Southeastern Conference cross country champion.

Homan won the 6k women's race held at Hilton Field at Fort Jackson Military Base in Columbia, S.C., in a personal-best time of 19 minutes, 40 seconds. A native of Delphos, Ohio, Homan's time bettered her previous career-best time of 20:25.83 set at the 2004 NCAA Cross Country South Regional.

Now in its fifth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
