Faces in the Crowd

Nov. 17, 2005

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn senior Angela Homan can add another accolade to her already overcrowded trophy case. The Spencerville, Ohio, native is featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section of the Nov. 17 issue on newsstands now.

Homan is featured for her performance at the 2005 Southeastern Conference Championships on Oct. 29, where she became just the second female in SEC history to win three conference crowns. Homan won the championship in a personal-best time of 19:40.00 in the 6K.

Homan's victory has earned her many accolades. On Nov. 1 she was named Athlete of the Week by USA Track & Field. College Sports Television (CSTV) honored her on Nov. 6 by naming her Student-Athlete of the Week.

Earlier today Homan was named the SEC Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year for the third straight season. Homan is only the second cross country athlete in SEC history - male or female - to win the award three times.

Homan will compete at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday. The women's 6K is slated for 12:15 p.m.
