PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - The Auburn women's tennis team concluded its fall schedule at the SEC Fall Coaches Classic on Sunday.
In singles play, freshman Alex Haney fell to Georgia's Darya Ivanov, 6-2, 7-5. Senior Ashley Cowart lost to Daniela Juskova of Mississippi State, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Tori Almagno fell 6-2, 6-2 to Mississippi's Preethi Subramanian. Senior Erin Gray dropped her match to Lindsey Brown of Arkansas, 6-1, 6-1. Lastly, freshman Irina Pljusznyin had the only three-set match of the day for the Tigers, as she fell 7-6, 2-6, 3-6 to Tatiana Feit of Mississippi State.
In doubles play, the Tigers' duo of Almagno and freshman Whitney Chappell lost in the finals of the "B" flight to Caroline Ferrell and Courtney Ulery of Vanderbilt, 9-7. Playing together for the first time in their careers, Almagno and Chappell won the first three matches of the tournament before losing on Sunday.
Auburn's team of Cowart and Haney had the lone victory on the day for the Tigers. The tandem defeated Arkansas' team of Allison Linden and Lindsey Brown, 8-0. Lastly, the Tigers' team of Gray and Pljusznyin fell to Kentucky's team of Lara Maurer and Liis Sober, 8-0.
The Tigers' fall season is complete and they will return to the courts on January 22 to face Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
