LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Auburn men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2006 indoor schedule with a light day of competition at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky. The Tigers had just two men and two women compete during the opening day of competition.
In the men's weight throw, junior Cory Martin won the event with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 21.59m (70-10). Junior Jacob Dunkleberger placed fourth in that event with a provisional qualifying mark of 19.49m (63-11.5)
Senior Ronda Gullatte placed third in the women's weight throw with a top mark of 18.91m (62-0.5), falling just short of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 19.00m.
The final competitor for Auburn on Friday was freshman Amelia Anderson, who finished 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 11.36m (37-3.25).
Competition at the Wildcat Invitational concludes Saturday.
