Auburn Men's Golf Tied For 10th After Mercedes-Benz First Round

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla -- The Auburn men's golf team shot a 313 and is tied for 10th after the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate first round at the par-72, 6,985-yard Sawgrass Country Club Sunday, 23 shots behind the leader and fifth-ranked UCLA's 2-over 290.

Senior All-SEC Stuart Moore and true freshman Glenn Northcutt both fired 5-over 77s and are tied for 23rd. Redshirt freshman Keith White is tied for 44th after carding a 7-over 79 followed by sophomore Jay Moseley, who had an 80 and is tied for 50th. Sophomore All-SEC Patton Kizzire is tied for 66th with an 83.

Alabama is in second at 12-over 300, 10 shots behind UCLA, while Texas Tech is in third at 301 followed by No. 9 Georgia State (304), host North Florida (308), South Carolina (308), LSU (308), Texas-Arlington (309), Missouri (312), Auburn (313) and No. 8 Tennessee (313) to round out the top 10.

Mercer (317) is in 12th followed by UAB (318), Coastal Carolina (319) and defending champion and fourth-ranked Florida (320).

"We had a tough round today, but it is only one round," head coach Mike Griffin said. "Obviously, we have a lot of work to do the next two days. We know that we will have to play much better tomorrow if we want to move up in the standings. Hopefully we can regroup and have a solid second round."

UCLA's Erik Flores holds the individual lead at 4-under 68 after shooting a 2-under 70, three shots ahead of Texas Tech teammates Andrew Dressner and Oscar Floren (71). Alabama's Mark Harrell (72) is in fourth while Tennessee's Lloyd Campbell and UCLA's Kevin Chappell (73) are tied for fifth
