Auburn Men's Golf Moves Into Eighth After Mercedes-Benz Second Round

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The Auburn men's golf team moved up two spots with a second round 299 to move into eighth place in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate second round at the windy par-72, 6,985-yard Sawgrass Country Club Monday. The Tigers improved by 14 strokes from their 313 in the first round for a 612 total.

Redshirt freshman Keith White had his best round of the season, carding a 1-over 73 for an 8-over 152 total and is tied for 25th with senior All-SEC Stuart Moore, who shot a 3-over 75. True freshman Glenn Northcutt improved from Sunday's 77 with a 2-over 74 to tie for 19th. Sophomore Jay Moseley shot a 77 and is tied for 48th at 157 while sophomore All-SEC Patton Kizzire also had a 77 and is 58th at 160.

"The freshmen carried the banner for us today and I am proud of that," head coach Mike Griffin said. "The conditions were tough again today, so I am pleased with the way we played. Hopefully we can continue to improve tomorrow."

No. 5 UCLA (304-594) remains in first place, just two shots ahead of Texas Tech (295-596). No. 9 Georgia State (294-598) and LSU (290-598) are tied for third followed by Alabama (300-600), South Carolina (297-605), No. 4 Florida (289-609), Auburn (299-612), host North Florida (305-613), No. 8 Tennessee (301-614) and Missouri (302-614) to round out the top 10.

Texas-Arlington (307-616) is in 11th place ahead of Coastal Carolina (300-619), UAB (308-626) and Mercer (324-641).

Texas Tech's Oscar Floren carded a 1-over 73 to tie UCLA's Erik Flores (76) for the individual lead at even-par 144. UCLA's Kevin Chappell (73) and Texas Tech's Andrew Dressner (75) are within two shots of the lead at 146.
