WAHIAWA, Hawaii - Sophomore Jay Moseley fired a 6-under 66 for the second straight day to claim the individual lead at 12-under 132 as the Auburn men's golf team carded a 14-under 274 to tie No. 6 BYU at 29-under 547 for the overall lead in the second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,917-yard Leileihua Golf Club in Wahiawa, Hawaii Thursday.
True freshman Glenn Northcutt shot a career-low 65 and is tied for second, only two shots behind Mosley at 10-under 134. Sophomore Steven Groover (70-141) and redshirt freshman Keith White (74-141) are tied for 38th while senior All-SEC Stuart Moore (73-147) is tied for 85th. Junior Andrew Medley, playing individually, is tied for 69th at 72-144.
"Jay and Glenn had phenomenal rounds today," head coach Mike Griffin said. "They have played great golf both days, and we will need them again in the final round.
"We have put together two pretty good rounds so far. Hopefully, we can get one more tomorrow."
SMU (271-550) is in third, three shots behind Auburn and BYU, followed by Arizona (279-554), No. 18 San Diego State (275-554), Colorado State (277-554), No. 17 New Mexico (276-555), No. 20 Texas A&M (275-555), Nevada (270-556) and Long Beach State (282-559) to round out the top 10.
Denver (275-560) and No. 7 UNLV (278-560) are tied for 11th followed by UTEP (281-565), California (282-571), host Hawaii (282-572), San Jose State (292-573), San Diego (286-577), Utah (287-579) and UC-Santa Barbara (291-584).
Final round action is scheduled to begin Friday at 12:30 Central.
