GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships got underway Friday, Feb. 24, with the first day involving only multi-event competitors. The Auburn men's team did not have a representative in the heptathlon, but four Auburn women took part in the pentathlon.

Jasmine Johnson led Auburn with a personal best score of 3,359 points, placing 15th overall. Auburn's other three competitors (Amelia Anderson, Danielle Threatt and Michelle Williamson), did not finish the pentathlon, choosing to rest for tomorrow's events rather than take part in the final event - the 800m.

Johnson's best finish came in the shot put, as her throw of 11.63m (38-2) was the second-best mark in the field. In the high jump, Williamson posted the top mark, clearing 1.75m (5-8.75).

Johnson's point total surpassed her previous best of 3,273 that she set earlier this season at the Clemson Multi-Event Championships.

Megan Akre of LSU won the pentathlon with 3,971 points.

Saturday will be a full day of competition for Auburn. Action gets started at 10:00 a.m. (ET) with the men's weight throw, and continues until the men's 3,000m at 6:35 p.m. wraps up the day's events. Live results can be found by visiting www.halfmiletiming.com.
