Auburn, Ala. - The No. 28 Auburn Tigers defeated the Samford Bulldogs and Mercer Bears 6-1 and 7-0, Sunday in a doubleheader held at the Luther Young Tennis Complex.
Against Samford, the Tigers took all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches. Capturing singles victories for Auburn was junior Robbert Lathouwers, senior Nick Lane, sophomore Pawel Dilaj, freshman Lukas Marsoun, and sophomore Terence Nugent.
After a short break, AU swept Mercer in doubles as well as singles. Playing number one singles for Auburn was Nick Lane, who captured his first victory in the number one spot.
"A win is always good and to play number one for an SEC team is a good thing," Lane said. "They played hard and it was good to get this win."
The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday, February 8, at 1:30 p.m. AU will take on the Troy State Trojans at the Luther Young Tennis Complex.
