Tigers Take Tough Road Loss to No. 8 Ole Miss

Final Stats

Oxford, Miss. - The Auburn men's tennis team lost 7-0 to the Ole Miss Rebels Sunday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center in Oxford.

Although the Tigers fought hard in both singles and doubles, they were unable to come through with any victories. No. 57 doubles duo Robbert Lathouwers and Lukas Marsoun fell to Bram ten Berge and Juan Pablo Di Cesare 8-6. Back for only his second weekend since knee surgery, Alex Schweizer and partner Terence Nugent fell to Erling Tveit and Eric Claesson 8-3. Pawel Dilaj and Nick Lane lost their first match together 8-4 to Robbye Poole and Jakob Klaeson 8-4.

In singles, Marsoun lost a battle to Klaeson 7-5, 6-3. Next, Lane fell to ten Berge 6-4, 6-4. Clenching the match for the Rebels was Erling Tveit. Although Schweizer won the first set 4-6, Tveit came back to win the second and third 6-4, 6-2.

In the four spot, Di Cesare defeated Milan Krnjetin 6-4, 7-5. Dilaj won his first set 4-6 at in the five spot, but was unable to hold off Poole, falling 6-2, 6-4. Finishing up the match was Lathouwers falling to Claesson 7-6, 7-6.

This is the third shut out this season for the Rebels as well as their third conference victory this season. This is Auburn's second conference loss, bringing them to 2-2 SEC and 8-4 for the season. The Auburn-Ole Miss all-time series is now tied at 24, although the Rebels have won the last 12 meetings between the two programs.

The Tigers take a break from conference action to take on Southern Mississippi on Wednesday, Feb. 15, in Auburn at 1:30 p.m.
