Auburn Enters Final Round of Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational Tied For Third

Statesboro, Ga. -- The Auburn Men's Golf Team shot an even-par 285-291-576 Saturday and is tied for third place heading into the final round of the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational at the par-72, 6,945-yard Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.

The Tigers are tied with No. 8 Tennessee (297-279-576), seven shots behind leader North Carolina (291-278-569) and three shots behind second place and 24th-ranked Kentucky (285-288-573). No. 3 Florida (294-284-578) is in fifth followed by North Carolina State (295-284-579), Michigan State (295-285-580), No. 25 South Carolina (300-283-583), No. 20 Alabama (298-285-583), No. 21 Minnesota (295-290-585), host Georgia Southern (299-288-587), Ohio State (302-285-587), LSU (294-293-587), Augusta State (300-293-593) and Toledo (306-298-604).

Senior All-SEC Stuart Moore led the Tigers with a 4-under 140 on the day and is in fourth place individually, just three shots behind Michigan State's Matt Harmon. Sophomore Steven Groover (70-74-144) is tied for 17th at even par while sophomore Patton Kizzire (72-73-145) is tied for 22nd. True freshman Glenn Northcutt (74-74-148) is tied for 40th followed by sophomore Jay Moseley (78-73-151) in a tie for 58th.

Auburn fired a 3-under 285 in the first round and was tied for first with Kentucky, sharing a six stroke lead entering the second round. Moore got off to a sizzling start for the Tigers. He birdied three of his first six holes and was in second place at 3-under 69 after the first round.

"We got off to a great start in the first round, and then dropped several shots in the second," head coach Mike Griffin said. "Stuart had an outstanding day, so it was good to see him play well again. We have a shot at winning this tournament. The guys need to play the way they are capable of playing."
