Women's Golf Sits In 10th With One Day Remaining At NCAA East Region

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The fourth-ranked Auburn women's golf team carded a 13-over 301 (293-301--594) in the second round of the NCAA East Region Championships to sit in 10th at the par 72, 6,386-yard Champions Course at the Bryan Park Golf Club.

The top eight in each of the three regions advance to the NCAA Championship in Columbus, Ohio, May 23-26.

"We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow," head coach Kim Evans said. "Obviously, we would like to be in the top eight after today's round, but we have a team of fighters that are very experienced. We will need a great round on Saturday, but we have proven this season that we are capable of big things."

The Tigers are currently following LSU in first at even par (288-288--576), Tennessee in second at 2-over (292-286--578), California sits in third at 7-over (288-295--583), Florida State in fourth at 10-over (297-289--586), Alabama in fifth at 12-over (295-293--588), host Wake Forest is in sixth at 13-over (296-293--589), Arizona State is seventh at 15-over (307-284--591), North Carolina holds the final of the top eight at 16-over (296-296--592) and South Carolina is ninth at 17-over (296-297--593).

Auburn senior Maria Martinez leads the Tigers and is tied for 17th overall at 2-over (72-74--146), junior Jessica Lovell is tied for 25th at 3-over (73-74--147), sophomore Abigale Schepperle fell to 42nd with a 6-over (72-78--150), sophomore Margaret Shirley is tied for 55th at 7-over (76-75--151) and Nicole Hage is tied at 91st at 12-over (78-78--156).
