Freshman Jil Hastenrath completed her sweep of the competition, going 6-0 to capture the ITA South Regionals B singles title on Sunday in Tuscaloosa.
Hastenrath defeated Kimber Redford of Florida A&M, 6-2, 6-3 to set up the championship match against Annabelle Bares of Troy. Hastenrath breezed through the first set, 6-1, but faultered in the second with Bares winning, 1-6. The Solingen, Germany native battled back to regain momentum and took the final set, 6-3. The second set loss to Bares was the only set Hastenrath dropped over her six matches on the weekend.
Hastenrath and the Tigers will next be in action at the SEC Coaches Championship in Peachtree, Ga., on Nov. 2-5.
