Columbus, Ohio - The Auburn equestrian team defeated Ohio State 11-8 on Saturday at Autumn Rose Farm to win their first meet of the season.
Auburn is now 3-0 all time versus the Buckeyes in the regular season.
The Tigers overtook Ohio State in western horsemanship and in hunt seat over fences. Auburn and the Buckeyes tied in western reining, but the Tigers were defeated on the flat.
Two Tigers received MVP honors in the meet, sophomore Ashley Griffith in horsemanship and freshman Katie Breedlove over fences.
"In some areas we rode well," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams, "but others still need work. It is not what we are going to call a successful performance across the board. Too many time the horses got the best of our rider. Even if it is tough, it is something that they have to work through. There were just mistakes on both sides, but they did what they needed to do to win."
Auburn is now 1-1 overall on the season, 1-1 on hunt seat and 2-0 in western.
The Tigers return to action on Nov. 10 at 1 pm at where they will host Georgia for their first home meet of the fall season.
