Athens. Ga. - Auburn defending national champion Steven Segerlin started the New Year off right with a victory on 1-meter springboard at the Georgia Diving Invitational. On the women's side Corey Gerlach finished just five points out of the top spot on 3-meter and took second place honors.
In the Tigers first diving competition in over a month, Auburn placed four of seven divers in the top five and all four advanced to Wednesday evening's diving shootout. Segerlin posted a 343.90 on 1-meter to claim his seventh individual event win of the season. Segerlin has won all but one event he has entered this year. Gerlach scored a 281.45 in the finals to finish just out of the top position (Kelsey Patterson of Utah won the event).
Rounding out the top five finishers were Auburn's Dan Mazzaferro (3rd, 297.80) and Scott Morgan (4th, 291.75).
